Karl rendezvous with his lifelong friend U.S. Navy Captain Gerhardt Kroner in the north Atlantic, saving his wife, Ruth and sons, Karl and Gerhardt from being captured and murdered by the Bremerhaven Gestapo chief, Heinrich Wolfgang.
